Со фантастична и досега невидена церемонија беа отворени Летните олимписки игри во Париз, спортистите дефилираа по реката Сена, а огинот беше запален на балон кој лебдеше над француската метропола.

Домаќинот Париз се потруди да направи вистинско иноватино шоу досега невидено на отворањата на Олимписките игри. Голем дел од церемонијата се случуваше на вода, на реката Сена каде што сите спортисти во бродови продефилираа.
Посебен спектакл беше олимпискиот оган. Покрај вештачкиот коњ кој пловеше по реката Сена, него го носеа и повеќе врвни спортисти како што се Зинедин Зидан, Рафаел Надал, Серена Вилијамс, Карл Луис, Амели Морезмо, Тони Паркер…
Последни беа Мари Жозе Перек и Теди Ринер кои го запалија олимпискиот оган, на воздушен балон кој се крена над Париз.
Церемонијата заврши со одлична изведба на Селин Дион.
