Киптум беше главен фаворит за Олимписките игри во Париз, но не го дочека тој ден.
Рекордот кој го постави Киптум изнесува 2:00:35. Негова цел беше да стане прв маратонец кој ќе истрча под два часа, но жал тоа не се случи.
